On July 11th, The Marion County Sheriff’s Search and Rescue team was awarded the “Commissioner Mary Pearmine Volunteer Group of the Year” award. Marion County Commissions Cameron and Willis along with Sheriff Hunter presented the award. Our outstanding group of dedicated volunteers are just a sampling of the hundreds of volunteers throughout Marion County. Volunteers donated over 60,000 hours to the County in 2023!
Additionally, one of our youth members, Jake Taylor, won the “Youth Volunteer of the Year” award! Jake has donated over 100 hours of volunteer time in his first 14 months on the team. He was nominated for the award because of his exceptional leadership traits, commitment to the tasks assigned to him, professionalism, and for being a role model for his fellow youth team members.
Congratulations to Jake and the rest of the Marion County Sheriff’s Search and Rescue team!
